Connection has been suspended since 2008

ADVERTISEMENT

A direct Air France flight left Paris for Tehran on Sunday for the first time since the connection was suspended in 2008.

VIPs were on board the plane when it left Charles de Gaulle airport.

Sanctions against Iran and its controversial nuclear programme were partly lifted following an historic agreement in Vienna in July 2015.
