The Ulaanbaatar Grand Prix dished up a gripping second day of action.

Leo Fogel celebrated his first career Grand Prix gold medal by winning the -73 kilo division.

The Russian judoka defeated former Tashkent Grand Prix silver medallist Batgerel Battsetseg of Mongolia.

Fogel won courtesy of two waza-ari’s for ippon – his second came after pinning his opponent to the floor.

The homes fans had something to cheer about as top seed Dagvasuren Nyamsuren won the -81kg gold and he did so in style.

The World number 15 beat Jaromir Musil of Czech Republic thanks to a sleeve lift and pull hip throw three minutes into the fight.

One of Mongolia’s strongest medal hopes for Rio 2016 Naranjargal Tsend-Ayush had to settle for the silver medal in the -70 kilo final after she was beaten by Japanese youngster Erina Ike.

20-year old Ike received a shido penalty for passivity before scoring a yuko and waza-ari top seal a fine victory.

Former Moscow Grand Slam bronze medallist Mungunchimeg Baldorj won the women’s -63 kilo category beating fellow Mongolian Gankhaich Bold.
