Hours after Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with his US counterpart Donald Trump, nearly a dozen people have been hurt next to the Turkish ambassador’s residence in Washington.

The incident is reported to have occured after pro-and anti-Erdogan demonstrations were held in the US capital.

According to witnesses, the brawl is alleged to have erupted after supporters of the Turkish leader, along with his security detail, attacked a group of Kurdish protesters.

Footage captured from the scene showed several people being knocked to the ground and kicked.

A number of elderly protesters were seen covered in blood. Police in Washington say at least nine people were injured and two arrests were made.
